The big picture

Amelia had her dermatologist appointment yesterday and the office was located in the Children’s Hospital of Denver. I went in expecting to hear that her birthmarks would simply fade over time and not to worry about them, so I was surprised and sad to hear that they will actually require laser treatments.

They had to give me the worst case scenarios….the birthmarks may never go away even with treatments, they could get worse, the one on her eye could affect her vision…these things will likely not happen and the worst is she’ll need occasional laser treatments for touch ups. But it was upsetting nonetheless.

Leaving the appointment and walking through the hospital seeing kids with tubes attached to oxygen, kids with no hair, kids in wheelchairs, etc. made me realize we are truly lucky to have 2 healthy, happy children. We can deal with a  few red marks.
